簡介：《美國新聞與世界報道》(U.S.News & Wor ld Report)1983年開始對美國大學及其院系進行排名，1985年以后每年更新一次，該排名具有較高的知名度。此排行榜的依據(jù)主要分為兩個部分:一是各大學或?qū)W院自己提供的具體資料數(shù)據(jù)；二是來自校外教授或行政人員的“聲譽”調(diào)查。第一部分的數(shù)據(jù)包括6年內(nèi)畢業(yè)率和1年后轉(zhuǎn)學率、錄取新生的要求、教學條件、用于每個學生的支出、預計和實際學生畢業(yè)比例、校友捐贈；第二部分是大學同行評審調(diào)查，對象是校長、教務長、招生部門主管等。該排行榜一直是美國學生、家長和中學教師最重要的一本升學參考讀物，也是中國學生留美選校的最主要指標。雖然一些大學對此排名有不同看法，但其影響力至今不減。
