簡介：《美國新聞與世界報道》(U.S.News & World Report)1983年開始對美國大學(xué)及其院系進(jìn)行排名，1985年以后每年更新一次，該排名具有較高的知名度。此排行榜的依據(jù)主要分為兩個部分:一是各大學(xué)或?qū)W院自己提供的具體資料數(shù)據(jù)；二是來自校外教授或行政人員的“聲譽”調(diào)查。第一部分的數(shù)據(jù)包括6年內(nèi)畢業(yè)率和1年后轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)率、錄取新生的要求、教學(xué)條件、用于每個學(xué)生的支出、預(yù)計和實際學(xué)生畢業(yè)比例、校友捐贈；第二部分是大學(xué)同行評審調(diào)查，對象是校長、教務(wù)長、招生部門主管等。該排行榜一直是美國學(xué)生、家長和中學(xué)教師最重要的一本升學(xué)參考讀物，也是中國學(xué)生留美選校的最主要指標(biāo)。雖然一些大學(xué)對此排名有不同看法，但其影響力至今不減。
